A Bright Future for Partnerships Between QHO and the Guyana Foundation

Two volunteers from the Queens Health Outreach (QHO), Ali and Eric, recently visited the Guyana Foundation to discuss ways the two organizations could partner in the area of mental health.

QHO is a student run NGO at Queens University in Canada, dedicated to promoting health through needs-based peer-education initiatives. Teams of students from QHO have been coming to Guyana for a number of years. They visit schools, and youth groups to teach about physical, sexual and mental health health. Their programs are very interactive, and fun for the kids, while also educational.

Ali and Eric have been in Guyana for about 7 weeks, and reached out to GF after seeing our mental health posters in the schools in Berbice.  Discussions were held about the next visit the group will make to Guyana, planned for next year. Among the topics discussed were ways that the two organizations could partner, and share resources. The discussions were very fruitful, and the Foundation is eagerly looking forward to assisting QHO volunteers with their work.
