Former Amerindian Village Chief Pays A Visit To Guyana Foundation

Mr. Neville Calistro also known as the Mighty Chief, recently paid a visit to the Guyana Foundation’s office, where he was welcomed. He travelled to the city to discuss development in his community, Kabakaburi, which is located in Region 2, in the area of the Pomeroon River. This region is in Essequibo, and close to the Guyana/Venezuela border.

Neville is the former Toushaou (village chief) of Kabakaburi and his son is the current Deputy Toushaou. They are also active musicians.

Neville is passionate about the development of his community and uniting the people there. He has invited the Foundation to visit Kabakaburi to look at the needs there and to see how we can assist. At the moment, a lot of the arable land is flooded, so some of the farmers are having a difficult time providing for their families. He has asked us to consider providing some training program that would teach residents new skills that they can use for a sustainable income.

The Foundation will be visiting Kabakaburi shortly to assess the community needs, and to begin planning projects that will transform the community, and improve the lives of its residents.
