The Guyana Foundation Sunrise Center recently benefited from a donation from the Guyana Bank for Trade & Industry Ltd. (GBTI) to complete the outfitting of the Center’s counseling room. Among the items donated were a desktop computer with printer and stabilizer, an office chair, and a cheque to purchase a coffee table.
These items were handed over to the Foundation by Ms. Pamela Binda, Public Relations and Marketing Manager at GBTI, and were received by the Foundation’s Managing Director, Anthony Autar, at a simple handing-over ceremony at the Bank’s Corporate Office in Kingston, Georgetown.
Ms. Binda stated that “[t]he Bank is pleased to participate in the collective effort to eradicate the issues of suicide, depression and the pains associated with gender-based violence in our society…We commend the Guyana Foundation for its efforts in helping to create a mentally healthy environment for Guyana.”
The Foundation also expressed its gratitude to GBTI for the items donated, with Autar stating that “the timely donation of these items will significantly enhance the work of our mental health counselors at the Sunrise Center, who provide a urgently-needed counseling, mental health interventions and various support services, free of charge, to residents of the Essequibo Coast. The Foundation is very grateful to GBTI for making such a tangible contribution to this work, and for responding very quickly to our request for assistance.”
